Annual Volunteer Awards are presented to members of the CVF who have worked within their respective local clubs or have contributed to the ideals of the philosophy of the CVF and the International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV).
Awards are presented on a five year basis to those members who have volunteered their time to work for the club on the executive branch of the organization or have shown an outstanding effort to promote the club and volkssporting.
Rules and Regulations for the Volunteer Awards are set by the CVF "Board of Directors".
On Sunday 13 July Sue Banks who is the present Atlantic Director for the Canadian Volkssport Federation traveled to Cape Breton to present some of these awards to members of the CB Island Hoppers:
Atlantic Director Sue Banks presents Lucy Nardini with her 5 Year Certificate and Pin |
The five year award presented to Lucy Nardini above is long overdue! Lucy is a founding member of the Island Hoppers has worked on many committees over these many years. Lucy has been a walk leader, trails committees, volunteered to host many functions at her home and is presently our club treasurer and has over seen our finances when CBIH hosted the National Convention in 2010.
THANKS LUCY FOR A JOB WELL DONE!
Cal Thistle 10 Year, Sue Banks AD, Barb Thistle 10 Year Volunteer Awards |
Barb and Cal Thistle are also founding members of the CBIH. At this time Cal is the club president and Barb is the vice president. Over the past 17 years they have looked after our Ways and Means Committee, (still selling t-shirts and pins) worked as walk leaders, assisted in finding new trails, promoted the club at seminars and work shops across the island and have been traveling ambassadors for CBIH and Cape Breton. "YOUR THE BEST, YOU MAKE US PROUD TO BE ISLAND HOPPERS"
