ANNUAL TRAILS MEETING - 2015 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Where are we going to walk next year?

The Trails Committee will hold a General Meeting for all members of the CBIH.

Subject: To prepare the 2015 Walk Schedule

Date and Time: Saturday 24 May, 2014, 3:30pm.

Location: Cape Breton Regional Library - McConnell Memorial Library, 50 Falmouth Street, Sydney NS

CBIH members are encouraged to attend and be prepared to voice your opinion on our scheduled walk program.

As a member of the Canadian Volkssport Federation (CVF) and the International Federation of Sports (IVV), we must prepare our calendar of events as early as possible to meet the national and international high standards of walk events and obligations and deadlines. Our schedule is published world wide along with several hundred other clubs.

The committee has already begun some of the preliminary task of preparing the 2015 calendar of events but we need you the members to let us know what you want as well!

(a) The walk committee has proposed a long weekend of events for October 2015 in the Cheticamp and CB Highlands National Park area and would like to invite all club members and volkssporters from across Atlantic Canada and else where to join us for a weekend of walking for Fun, Fitness and Friendship!

Your suggestions and assistance would be appreciated to ensure a successful event. We need Walk Leader and Sweeps, other volunteers to set up a meet and greet function.

(b) For the 2015 schedule of events "do you have a trail or location you want the club to walk"?

(c) For the schedule we need a Start/Finish Point location, name of the trail or community, an address if possible, length of the trail and what is the Trail Rating as per CVF regulations as seen on the back of the Blue Book "Atlantic Volkssports".

LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE TRAILS, SUCH AS THE COXHEATH NATURE TRAIL ABOVE!

COME JOIN THE MEETING ON SATURDAY 24 MAY - 3:30pm

CBIH PAST PRESIDENT ELSIE BUCK AND NEW PRESIDENT CAL THISTLE

HOW TIME FLY'S! We now have our 5th Past President!

Thank you to our newest member Darlene Broussard for the following photo and attending her very first walk event with CBIH accompanied by her walking pal "Isis"
Joe MacKinnon, Elsie Buck & Cal Thistle
On Sunday 6 April, at the Clubs Annual Guided Walk Event in North Sydney, Cape Breton Island Hoppers Club President Cal Thistle presented Elsie Buck with the Past President Pin.
Cal now wears the Club Presidents pin and Elsie has become the 5th Past president of the CBIH. Well done Elsie.
The first President of CBIH was Wayne Howie followed by Phil Irons, Rollie Coombes, Joe MacKinnon and Elsie Buck.
Cal Thistle and Barb Thistle are founding members of CBIH who have been on many of the club committees and have continued to be hard working volunteers within our organization.
Barb Thistle has taken on the role of Vice President, there is no doubt that we have a great team to keep CBIH going for many more years to come.

MORE VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED EACH YEAR! ARE YOU READY TO HELP OUT?

More photos for Sunday 6 April can be found in the "Photo Gallery" click on the site to the right of this page.
