VICTORIA VOLKSSPORT Phoenix Festival

 Victoria Volkssport Phoenix Festival
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

The next Phoenix Festival will be held on April 17-19, 2015

The Volkssport Clubs of South Vancouver Island will host the fourth Victoria Volkssport Phoenix Festival in April, 2015.
Over 350 people from all over North America attended the last festival. Everyone enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, the home baking and the friendly volunteers. And the weather cooperated beautifully. We received many ideas to make the next Phoenix even better.

Keep watching our website for all the details as they develop. ( www.vvpf.ca )  We will let you know when registration is available and when we have arranged special deals with some Victoria hotels.

We can tell you that there will be a new Location. The new location is the Victoria Greek Community Centre at 4648 Elk Lake Drive which is near Beaver Lake, the Howard Johnson Hotel and many bus routes. The Centre is a beautiful, comfortable facility and they will be providing delicious Greek and Italian cuisine throughout the Festival - at the Meet and Greet, for the Saturday banquet, and delicacies and beverages will be available all weekend at a snack bar and cash bar.
We will again offer walks as before - 5 and 10 km walks on Friday; 5, 10, 21, 32 and 42 km walks on Saturday; and 5, 10 and 21 km walks on Sunday. However, since this is a new location these will be all new walks.
However, we can promise the same warm welcome, fun and friendship.
So, right now continue enjoying your summer activities, but put Phoenix, Victoria into your 2015 calendars.
And think about adding an extra day or two to your stay in Victoria.  Our clubs will be offering guided versions of three of our most popular and scenic YREs on Thursday evening, Friday morning and Monday morning.
In the meantime, while you are waiting, take a look at some more people having a great time in 2013. Click here to see the photos.
We hope to see you next April!

MIRAMICHI WEEKEND - MESSAGE FROM SANDY HICKEY

The following message has been sent to all members who participated in the weekend events in Miramichi NB

From: Sandy Hickey
Subject: Miramichi weekend

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to extend a thank you to all of your club members who braved “Arthur” and came up to support the Miramichi weekend.   Unfortunately, when things are planned a year ahead of time, you never know what nature is going to throw at you and this was an excellent example.   Looking back at it now, I believe it will go down in the history books of DVC and everyone’s memory as a “hell of a weekend”.  If you don’t know already, we got 122 mm of rain on Saturday so it was quite an accomplishment to be out walking in that, especially the 10 km Sat morning in Newcastle.  The aft walk wasn’t as  bad and really enjoyable.  More of a walk than a test of endurance.  We had a great boat cruise Sunday morning and the Sackville walk was beautiful.

So thank you to all of you again.  I hope to do this again in a few years so keep it in mind.  If anyone wants to take a trip up there and do some walking I can send you the directions for the walks and you could do them on your own.

Take care,
Sandy

Over the past 17 years they have looked after our Ways and Means Committee, (still selling t-shirts and pins) worked as walk leaders, assisted in finding new trails, promoted the club at seminars and work shops across the island and have been traveling ambassadors for CBIH and Cape Breton. "YOUR THE BEST, YOU MAKE US PROUD TO BE ISLAND HOPPERS"
