CVF NATIONAL CONVENTION 2014

Hi All,
Please pass this on to your members.
Thanks,
Kathy Parr,
Vice Chair

Hello Walkers!

The 2014 National Convention will be held in Banff, Alberta, Canada, from May 30 to June 1, 2014. Banff is Canada’s first National Park and has a wonderful blend of village shops and restaurants and significant wilderness with abundant trails and mountain lakes. The registration for this convention is now open and can be found at: http://www.cvfconvention2014.ca/Registration.php

The convention hotel, the Banff Park Lodge, is right in the middle of the Banff town site beside the Bow River. It is a fine hotel in a super location. Hotel information can be found at: http://www.cvfconvention2014.ca/Accommodation.php

We recognize this is one of those “bucket list” destinations and you will want to make the most of your trip. Our Trail Blazer, Niels Breum, has been busy setting up our President’s Walk and Convention Walk as well as 16 other self-guided walks within 1.5 hours of the town of Banff. Lots of amazing walks!!

In addition, a post convention tour is available to those who love walking/hiking in the mountains. It will visit Lake Louise, Jasper and Kananaskis country -- some of the best mountain sites in the whole world. To find out more look here:http://www.cvfconvention2014.ca/Post-Convention-Tour.php

Other activities include:

Dessert Reception                                                     Merchandise Sales
Western Banquet                                                      50/50 Draw
Convention T-Shirts and Pins                                     Silent Auction
Canadian Volkssport Federation AGM                      Park Warden Entertainment

Register early to avoid disappointment as the banquet and reception room holds 350 people.
We hope you will all come out and enjoy this great get together.

Five Islands, Fundy Shore & Annapolis Valley
One of the most extraordinary events of its kind, Not Since Moses is a 5 km walk and 10 km run on the sea floor of the Bay of Fundy (home to the most extreme tides in the world). Participants will trek where 30 feet of water would have flowed just hours before.

Barb and Cal Thistle along with Cheryl MacKinnon of the Cape Breton Island Hoppers have already registered and they invite interested CB Island Hoppers to join them for this extraordinary event that takes the walker or runner along the seabed of the Bay of Fundy.

Accommodation are limited in the area so you must register  now, Barb suggest Sunshine Motel that is very near the  start location. Phone: 1-902-254-3135.

Please note this is not a CVF/CBIH Volkssport sanctioned event, we are simply inviting you to attend for something new and exciting.  A chance to play  on the mud flats of the Bay of Fundy.

Some members of our club attended this event in 2012, Don and Maureen MacKenzie along with Phyllis MacLeod and reported an excellent fun time, but be prepared to get wet and muddy and simply throw away the  running shoes after the event!!!

Barb is looking for an oval Pyrex cover left behind at our last Pot Luck event before the Christmas event.

Contact Barb Thistle for further information on the Not Since Moses at: 567-6702 or simply go to the websites provided.
There are additional videos on 'You Tube' as well.
