WILD COVE TRAIL & GOOSEBERRY COVE

Location: Wild Cove/Gooseberry Cove

Directions to Start Point:
From Sydney follow Hwy 22 going towards Louisbourg,
turn left (East) onto Little Lorraine Rd.
Continue for approx 5K and park on the left side of the Hwy
Please try to get off the shoulder of the road as much as possible.
This is a good opportunity to car pool due to the limited parking on this stretch of highway

SUNDAY, June 26
Registration begins at 1:30pm
Walk Start Time: 2:00pm
GW, 10k, 3C
Walk Guide/Leader is Elsie Buck

During this walk event participants are asked not to wander off the trail and to remain with the group as much as possible. The Eco-system in this area is very fragile and weather conditions such as wind and fog will change very rapidly.

Here is a quote from Wayne McKay a local writer and hiking/walking enthusiast:
". Gooseberry Cove is one of those rarely visited, magical places on the island. There are a few places like this but Gooseberry Cove has a special feeling all its own. It is the perfect place to take your family and explore. There are beaches in protected coves, impressive rock formations and cliffs, amazing views of the Atlantic coast between Louisbourg and Little Lorraine, loads of seabirds and wetlands full of interesting “small life” – including the bug-eating pitcher plant. The landscape is stark and beautiful upon first glance but teeming with life upon closer inspection. It’s very easy to putter away hours exploring at Gooseberry Cove. It’s a relaxing place that soothes the soul. Time falls away unnoticed and distance has little meaning. It’s a place for slow exploration and filling up on the wonder of the world." Wayne McKay
