THE CANADIAN VOLKSSPORT FEDERATIONS ANNUAL NATIONAL WALKING WEEKEND

The CVF President Ethel Hansen challenges all Volkssport clubs and members to accumulate as many ks as possible during this weekend; the goal is to walk from sea to sea to sea across Canada.

The CB Island Hoppers were the recipients of the  CVF Presidents Challenge in 2011 for this same event. We are trying to accumulate as many kilometers' as possible to achieve walking from sea to sea to sea!!
We can do it again this year with maximum participation from all members and don't forget to bring a guest as well.

"Start Point has changed due to electrical contract work being carried out in Mira Park during the long weekend to ensure the park is opened for the seasons activities. Parks Nova Scotia has requested that we remain out of the park at this time for safety reasons."

NEW TRAIL: DEVILS HILL AND DEVILS FALLS

Devil’s Hill Road

The story is Devil's Hill Road was named because a gentleman met the Devil on his way home from Mira Ferry one night after a dance in the late 19th century.
There were quite a few farms along the road that went to the Mira, a few of them owned by German families. Devil's Hill Road is actually part of the old French Road that ran from the Fortress of Louisbourg to the Mira River.
It is a great hike to follow the old route which is still visible if you look carefully. The Brothers of Charity had a monastery and forge that used to help out the wood cutting barges that came in from the Fortress along the river.
Devil's Hill Falls is along this road. Catalone Lake can be seen in the distance off to the far right
